Avanti Room (4)

The Avanti House was a wonderful stay. We needed to stay in two rooms. Both rooms and adjoining washrooms were very clean, comfortable and quant. The house's common spaces (dining rm, living rm, back tv rm) were all spacious, well furnished and wonderfully decorated with all fun and very interesting Avanti car related. The home truly is a museum as shown on the sign on the front lawn. Very relaxing back yard sitting, convenient street and rear parking.

I always enjoy my stays at the Avanti Houses. The houses are two, elegant, 100-year-old homes that have been creatively renovated with updated utilities and amenities. Each bedroom has its own half bath; several bedrooms have full baths. Spacious common areas are filled with memorabilia associated with the Studebaker Avanti sports car. Check in is a breeze, and the staff are gracious and responsive.

The Avanti House has old world charm and a plethora of information about Studebaker. Close for downtown activities and across the street from the museum.

We stayed in Avanti Room 4 and it was perfect! I enjoyed having the private bathroom and everything was very clean. The mattresses are a little loud when you move around, but I think that's from the mattress toppers. The room itself is right off the kitchen which worked out great. The kitchen was clean, clearly labeled, and easy to use.

Three of us stayed in two rooms (both in the original Avanti House: Room 4 and 7) #4 on first floor; the other (#7) directly above this room on the second floor); both with showers (first floor room had much bigger bathroom with tub/shower). Both rooms were very clean; as well as the rest of the house. And, given the vast amount of Avanti and Studebaker paraphernalia and collectibles, that would be alot of dusting! It was very interesting reading and looking thru all the museum items. There is not alot of storage room/shelves/dressers/only portable closets in each room, but we didn't have a problem with our luggage/toiletries for a 3 night stay. There was coffee (machine), tea, nutri-grain bars, popcorn, and instant oatmeal to have a snack/light breakfast (self serve). We did not meet the owners/manager, but was contacted to make sure all our needs were being met while there. The entry into the house was secure with a new and easy to use locking system. We were provided with check-in info well before our stay; and communication was greast. Our rooms locked with old fashioned keys (which I loved!). Each room in the house had a converted closet to a half bath, plus one in the kitchen, so there were literally 8 toilets in this 6 room house! No bathroom anxiety in this home! (One shared full bathroom on the upper level for 4 rooms; which was where the shower for these rooms, and hair dryer for the house was located). There were ample towels, linens, TP, etc. Also, the rooms all had small refrigerators; (Except the first floor's only room #4), and there was a full sized fridge available to use in the kitchen. There were dishes, cutlery, some cooking items, microwave and toaster oven, but no stove. (We didn't cook there, so not a big deal for us). They do have occ. 'long term' occupants, and only one other room was in use besides our two!). We loved that it was right across the street from the Studebaker Museum (easily walkable). The neighborhood appears to be in change (better), and was completely safe, although I am not sure I would love to walk around alone at night (?). As in most downtown cities. Parking was behind the house; 4 spots, but another large lot was next door; and parallel parking in the front on the street. Beds were comfortable enough with ample pillows. There was a fun sitting room with TV attached to our upstairs room (#7), that had a spiral staircase to the lower level (at your own risk per signs, but it was fine). Another stairway to use for luggage towards the front of the house. There were three TV's in the house/common rooms, but none in the bedrooms (yay!). Overall, this was a delightful and extremely interesting place to stay; and I highly recommend!
